Our Background

The Society of Adolescent Health in Uganda is a multidisciplinary society devoted to advancing the health and well-being of adolescents. The Society was founded in December 2012 following a regional training in Kampala that was led by experts from Columbia and Makerere Universities and the Naguru Teenage Information and Health Centre.

Recognizing that health is more than the absence of disease, the Society for Adolescent Health in Uganda (SAHU) promotes positive adolescence/youth development, illness prevention, achievement of individual potential and a sense of physical, mental, and social well-being.

In its pursuit of optimal adolescent health and developmentally-appropriate health care, SAHU believes that scientific research provides the evidence base for effective health promotion as well as prevention and treatment of illness and injury.
